BLACK SABBATH's GEEZER BUTLER: "JOHN ENTWISTLE Revolutionized Bass Playing"
July 2, 2002BLACK SABBATH bassist Geezer Butler had some kind words to say about one of his mentors, John Entwistle of THE WHO, who died on June 27th in Las Vegas, one day before THE WHO was to kick off its latest tour.
"He revolutionized bass playing with his bass solo in 'My Generation' and he brought bass technique and bass players to the forefront in rock music," said Butler in a statement.
Entwistle's style was one of the main inspirations that led to one of Butler's most famous compositions, the bass solo at the beginning of BLACK SABBATH's "N.I.B."
Butler is currently at home in England, rumored to be writing songs for a forthcoming solo album. No further details are available at this time.
